Coinciding with the commemoration of Research and Technology Week, a scientific and cultural visit for students of Environmental Science and Engineering from the Faculty of Natural Resources, Lorestan University, took place from December 5th to 8th of the current year to several regions of the country, with the final destination being Gilan, under the supervision of Dr. Zahra Asadollahi and Dr. Navid Zamani.

According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, during this four-day visit, students visited the Ganjnameh Tourist Village in Hamedan province, the Selkeh Wildlife Refuge, the Lisar Protected Area, and the Gisum beach and forest in Gilan province, and the Barajin Nature Village in Qazvin province.

The Lisar Protected Area, with an area of approximately 32,000 hectares in the west of Gilan province, includes coastal, plain, mountainous, and forested areas, which has been under the supervision of the Environmental Protection Organization since 1969.

The Selkeh Wildlife Refuge, with an area of 360 hectares, is located in the southern part of Anzali Lagoon and within the boundaries of the city of Some'e Sara. By the approval number 63 of the Supreme Council of the Environment in 1975, it was designated as a wildlife refuge and joined the areas under the management of the Environmental Protection Organization. It is one of the valuable lagoons in the north of the country where birds come every year to lay eggs in this beautiful lagoon.

The only environmental education center of Anzali Lagoon is located in this area.

During this visit, students engaged in experiential learning by using binoculars in the birdwatching tower and the wooden walkway to observe birds and visit the Selkeh Wildlife Refuge.

The Barajin Nature Village of Qazvin, with a natural environment for the life of various animals and wildlife, from leopards to lions, bears, and wolves, has been transformed into a model ecosystem in the country. Education, research, conservation, and support of wildlife, especially rare species, creating a tourist and recreational place, and creating a healthy environment for spending leisure time, increasing public awareness of citizens regarding living creatures are among the goals of building the large nature village in the Barajin National Park.
