Publication of Lorestan University Professor's Article in the Prestigious International Journal Trends in Biotechnology
Oct 06, 2025
A joint article by Dr. "Farhad Nazarian-Firouzabadi," a faculty member of the Faculty of Agriculture, Lorestan University, with the academic rank of Professor, and a group of researchers from the University of Pennsylvania, was published in one of the most prestigious scientific journals in the world, Trends in Biotechnology (with a Q1 rating and an impact factor of 14.9).
According to the Public Relations Department of Lorestan University, this article is titled
Small but mighty : Emerging roles of uORFs in plants
and examines one of the new areas of molecular biology in plants and analytically explores the role of small peptides in cellular regulatory processes.
Based on the report submitted by the Research Affairs Department of Lorestan University, peptides are short chains of amino acids that play essential roles in cellular activities.
These molecules regulate gene expression, respond to biotic and abiotic stresses, and even function in cellular defense as hormones and antimicrobial agents.
In this article, Dr. Nazarian and his colleagues have specifically focused on a group of small peptides that exist in the 5'UTR region of many eukaryotic genes and play an important role in regulating translational processes.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Farhad Nazarian Firouzabadi also published another article in the field of small peptides in the prestigious international journal Biotechnology Advances last year.
