Meeting on the Mission-Oriented Approach to Higher Education and Presentation of Lorestan University's Achievements in Aquaculture

The specialized session "Experiences and Achievements of University and Higher Education Centers' Mission-Oriented Approach in Utilizing Provincial Advantages" was held on Wednesday, October 9, 1404, in coordination with the Office of Relations with Society and Industry of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, in this session, which was held with the presence of managers of relations with society and industry from four universities in the country, Dr. Morteza Ghobadi, Director of Relations with Society and Entrepreneurship of Lorestan University, and Dr. Ashkan Banan, faculty member of the Fisheries Engineering Department of the Faculty of Natural Resources, explained the most important achievements and experiences of Lorestan University in the field of aquaculture and sustainable fisheries development.
Presentation of Lorestan University's Achievements in the Field of Aquaculture
In this session, representatives of Lorestan University introduced a set of effective measures taken by the university in line with its mission-oriented approach, including the following:
_ Obtaining permission and launching the master's degree program "Reproduction and Aquaculture".
_ Recruiting two new faculty members in the specialized field of aquaculture.
_ Implementing two extra-university projects with the General Directorate of Fisheries of Lorestan in the field of capacity assessment of the province's dams for cage fish farming (selected projects of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology).
_ Implementing aquaculture smartening projects with the support of the National Elites Foundation in the form of the Ahmadi Roshan project.
_ Conducting studies to evaluate the reserves of Lorestan rivers and the province's capacity in fisheries development.
_ Publishing numerous scientific articles in reputable domestic and international journals.
_ Launching a specialized workshop and laboratory for reproduction and aquaculture.
_ Holding skills training courses, field visits, and internships for students in aquaculture centers.
_ Holding national conferences related to natural resources, governance, and conservation of Iranian fish.
_ Establishing the journal "Applied Research in Natural Resources Engineering" with a focus on fisheries.
_ The activity of a technology core in the university's growth center in the field of fisheries.
_ Signing a cooperation agreement between Lorestan University and the General Directorate of Fisheries of the province.
Emphasis on the Role of Lorestan University in Sustainable Development and Water Resource Efficiency
In the continuation of the session, Dr. Ashkan Banan, referring to the prominent position of Lorestan province in aquaculture, said: "Lorestan ranks first in the country in the cultivation of cold-water fish, and Lorestan University, with a mission-oriented approach, has taken effective steps in the path of improving efficiency, optimal use of water resources, and sustainable fisheries development."
He added: "The goal of Lorestan University is to connect education, research, and technology to solve the real problems of the province and the country in the field of fisheries, and this mission-oriented approach will create a bright future for employment, food security, and regional development."
Three Pillars of Lorestan University's Mission-Oriented Approach
Based on the strategic plan of Lorestan University, the main missions of this university are defined in three areas: medicinal plants, tourism, and aquaculture.
Focusing on these areas is part of the university's overall strategy to play an effective role in the economic and social development of Lorestan province and achieve the goals of the national mission-oriented approach to higher education.
