In the Path of Scientific Diplomacy / Lecture by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Lorestan University, at the Uganda International Conference

Dr. "Farhad Nazarian-Firouzabadi," Head of the Faculty of Agriculture, Lorestan University, and Professor of the Department of Production Engineering and Plant Genetics, participated and delivered a speech at the international conference and workshop titled "Transforming Food Systems for Climate Actions," hosted by Makerere University, Uganda, by the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, scientists, professors, and researchers from various Islamic countries and reputable universities around the world attended this international conference, which was held from October 25th to November 1st, 2025.
In his speech, Dr. Nazarian-Firouzabadi, with the topic "Prospects of Food Security in Iran under the Conditions of Climate Change Impact," examined the challenges, capacities, and macro policies of Iran in the field of food security and adaptation to climate change.
Furthermore, participants visited various departments of Makerere University and attended scientific and specialized evaluation sessions.
Also, special panels on food security in the world, with a focus on Islamic and African countries, were held, in which university representatives discussed and exchanged views on the challenges and opportunities for cooperation.
Scientific Collaborations and Memoranda of Understanding Under Review
During this international meeting, Lorestan University held negotiations with universities in Nigeria, Somalia, Qatar, Tanzania, Egypt, and the Islamic University of Uganda to sign memoranda of scientific and research cooperation. These memoranda are currently under review and draft exchange, and if finalized, a new path will be opened for expanding scientific cooperation between Lorestan University and universities in Islamic countries and the African continent.
