A meeting to present the report of the industry relations (extramural) project of Dr. Manouchehr Nasri, a faculty member of the Fisheries Engineering Department of the Faculty of Natural Resources, Lorestan University, was held.
According to the Public Relations Department of Lorestan University, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, with the coordination and approval of the Industry and Entrepreneurship Relations Department of Lorestan University, a meeting to present the extramural project of Dr. Manouchehr Nasri, Assistant Professor of the Fisheries and Environmental Engineering Department of the Faculty of Natural Resources, Lorestan University, entitled "Capacity Assessment and Biotechnical Study of the Simareh and Haleh Dams in order to Cultivate Aquatic Animals Compatible with the Conditions of Lorestan Province with a Focus on Cage Fish Farming," was held at the Faculty of Natural Resources of Lorestan University.
Based on the approach of expanding extramural communications and interactions and conducting applied research, this project was carried out with the participation of the General Directorate of Fisheries and the General Directorate of Planning and Budget of the province.
In this regard, Dr. Nasri told our reporter: "This research was conducted based on monthly field studies over a period of one year and provided useful information regarding the status of the Simareh and Haleh dams in terms of trophic status, seasonal and annual physicochemical conditions, and biological changes in the dam reservoirs."
Dr. Nasri explained: "Based on the information obtained from this research, the permissible capacity for aquaculture in the mentioned dams was determined, with an emphasis on maintaining the ecological conditions of the dam lakes, and was provided to the General Directorate of Fisheries of the province for future policy-making. Also, the amount of natural production of the dam reservoir, along with the natural production capacity based on stocking the lake with fish, was another aspect of this research."
It is worth mentioning that the University's Community and Industry Relations Management operates under the supervision of the Vice-President for Research and Technology of Lorestan University.
The working approach of this management is to expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation with organizations, departments, executive agencies, and the private sector of the province in line with problem-solving and providing scientific and applied assistance to reduce community problems.
The Head of the Industry Relations Department of Lorestan University is Reza Asareh, and the Director of the Community and Entrepreneurship Relations Department of the University is Dr. Meysam Doostizadeh.
The Head of the Vice-Presidency for Research and Technology of Lorestan University is Dr. Hossein Hatami.
