Laboratories

Entomology Laboratory: In this laboratory, the practical sections of the courses on entomology, plant pests, and zoology are taught. Laboratory facilities include stereomicroscopes (binocular), microscopes, ovens, and equipment for collecting, preserving, and dissecting insects, plant pests, and zoology specimens. Other duties of this laboratory include preparing educational collections related to entomology, zoology, and plant pest courses, preparing necessary slides from insect and plant pest samples, preparing collections of beneficial insects such as predatory insects, parasitoids, and pollinators, and preparing educational CDs on entomology.

Plant Pathology Laboratory: In this laboratory, the practical sections of the courses on mycology, bacteriology and virology, nematology, acarology, and plant diseases are taught. Laboratory facilities include educational microscopes for instructors and students, regular microscopes, stereomicroscopes, hoods, centrifuges, autoclaves, ovens, and equipment for collecting, preserving, and examining plant diseases, fungi, nematodes, and bacteria. Other duties of this laboratory include preparing educational collections related to plant pathology courses and plant pathogens (such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, nematodes, parasitic higher plants, etc.), forming a herbarium of living and non-living fungi and plant samples containing the effects of plant pathogens, culturing plant pathogenic fungi and bacteria and antagonists and taking action to identify them, and preparing educational CDs on plant diseases.

Mycology and Fungal Diseases Laboratory: In this laboratory, research related to master's theses and research projects of the group's professors on mycology and fungal diseases of plants is conducted. Laboratory facilities include incubators, germinators, hoods, microscopes, stereomicroscopes, a computer, and instruments and equipment related to the preservation, identification, cultivation, and examination of the biology of fungi and fungal diseases of plants. Collecting, identifying, and preparing collections of plant pathogenic fungi and conducting studies related to various aspects of pathogenicity and fungal biology are also carried out in this laboratory.
