Inauguration of the Advanced Water Treatment Technologies Workshop at Lorestan University's Faculty of Agriculture
Dec 09, 2024
On the occasion of Research and Technology Week, with the presence of Dr. Mostafa Karampour, Vice President for Research and Technology of Lorestan University, Dr. Ali-Heydar Nasrollahi, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Meysam Doostizadeh, Director of the Department of Community Relations and Entrepreneurship of the University, and Dr. Seyed Yaghoub Karimi, faculty member of the Water Engineering Department of the Faculty of Agriculture, a workshop on new water treatment technologies was inaugurated at the Faculty of Agriculture of Lorestan University.
According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, Dr. Seyed Yaghoub Karimi, the founder of the workshop, wrote:
"Arsenic pollutant is one of the most important pollutants of karst water resources, which, due to its high toxicity (in the rank of radioactive elements), causes various hazards and cancers.
Therefore, the removal of these pollutants is a necessity in the field of water resources and the Ministry of Health.
Since most methods of removing this pollutant are expensive and the technology of using adsorbents to remove this pollutant does not exist in the country, the development of inexpensive domestic technologies, with indigenous knowledge that has the property of selective pollutant selection and does not change other effective water parameters, and is a step beyond imported samples, with the ability to be recycled, is one of the main necessities of the water resources sector.
These technologies are currently being developed and industrialized by concluding a contract with the Water and Wastewater Company.
This technology was selected as the selected project of the Ministry of Energy in 2023, and the selection of this project from among various projects in the field of water in the Ministry of Energy indicates the importance of developing these types of technologies and the necessity of research in these sectors."
