The Department of Plant Protection, relying on current knowledge and modern technologies, is mandated to train competent specialists in the fields of plant pathology, agricultural entomology, and biological control. By conducting fundamental and applied research, providing scientific solutions for pest and disease management, and collaborating with research centers and the agricultural sector, this department strives to enhance food security and sustainably protect natural resources.
The Department of Plant Protection at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lorestan, was established in 1996 with a Bachelor's degree program in Plant Protection. In 2011, it expanded its educational activities by obtaining permission for Master's degree programs in agricultural entomology and plant pathology, and in 2012, it introduced doctoral programs with two specializations: agricultural entomology and plant pathology.
The vision of the Department of Plant Protection is to become a prominent scientific and research hub at the national and regional levels; in such a way that, by training specialized personnel, producing indigenous knowledge, and developing new technologies in the field of plant protection, it plays an effective role in increasing agricultural productivity, reducing the use of chemical pesticides, and improving community health.
